I (she/he) am a visual artist, researcher and jewellery maker who uses a variety of media.
In my work, I reflect on a wide variety of themes through the medium of jewellery. In my opinion, jewellery is particularly well suited to reflecting on socially relevant issues due to its almost automatic inherent reference to identity.
Many of the objects shown here are body-related, but not necessarily wearable.
"Contaminated (memories)" is an is an artistic exploration of the power of objects in museums collections. The work is also part of my PhD research project at Hasselt University and the PXL-MAD School of Arts, Hasselt (BE), which is funded by the Special Research Fund (BOF) of Hasselt University (BOF21DOC04).
In January 2012, I (b. 1990) completed my training as a state-certified goldsmith at the Staatliche Zeichenakademie in Hanau (DE). In the same year, I began studying jewellery design at the Hochschule Wismar, University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design (DE), which I completed in January 2017 as a Diplom Designer (Fachhochschule). In the following years, I worked freelance, was part of a gallery of makers and received my first teaching assignments. In 2016, my work was awarded the Alen Müller-Hellwig Prize. In 2017 I received the State Prize for Applied Arts SH 2017 and was supported by the Caspar David Friedrich Scholarship from the state of Mecklenburg- Western Pomerania. In September 2018, I returned to Wismar University of Applied Sciences for a part-time teaching position, where I was mainly involved in teaching as part of the basic training of jewellery and product design students.
In 2019, I started a Master's degree (Jewellery Design and Gold and Silversmithing) at the PXL-MAD School of Arts (BE), which I completed in June 2020 as a Master of Arts (MA) in Visual Arts.
I then returned to Wismar University of Applied Sciences as a lecturer until October 2021.
On 1 November 2021, I started my current position as a PhD student at the UHasselt, Faculty of Architecture and Arts and PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt (BE) with funding of the Special Research Fund BOF (BOF21DOC04). The title of my research is Acts of Deviation: Artistic Reflections on Memory and Identity in Connection with Jewellery.
